In some cases both Malcolm X and Jake are listed as sysops of REBELS' HIDEOUT, but the truth is likely closer to Jake being a sort of cosysop, and Malcolm X having the main responsibility for the board. Zaxxan's board DRAGON'S LAIR was listed 10/91, but gone from the boardlist and his functions by 12/92. Members like Droopy, Raz, Q, Nick and Dragon were migrated to the pc division by december 1992. 1989 - Rebels was formed on the 10th of February 1989 when the two groups Chaos Cooperation and Roadrunners decided to join forces. Their first production, announcing this, was released two days later at the Bamiga Sector One and The Warfalcons party in Denmark. The original members were (I believe) all Danish. They were; BJ, Codex, Cruncher, Droopy, Jake Up, Jason, Joz, Obx, Raz, Static, Thrasher, Vandal, XOD and Yoyo. Cruncher (Rasmus Hartmann) then suddenly sold his Amiga and left the scene in august, only six months after he helped found the group. Danish coder Proxt also left sometime this year, for Panzerfaust (later Cave). 1991 - Heatbeat won the music competition at the Society Summer Party in june! Nick was one of the coarrangers of the Swedish ECES Party in june. The board HIDEOUT was opened late this year; sysops Malcolm X and Jake. 1992 - Danish graphician, musician and one of the original founders, Static (02/89-) decided to leave for The Silents late april. He later returned to be a member of the new Rebels when they were reborn in 1994. Rebels arranged the massive finnish party The Assembly 92 in late july, in cooperation with Complex. English Lynx (gfx, 10/91-) disappeared from the memberlist some time between october and november. A memberlist dated december 1st had 47 recorded members in Denmark (12), Sweden (10), Finland (8), France (4), Germany (3), UK (1), Norway (1), Belgium (2), Turkia (1), Holland (3) and USA (2), and listed Meegosh and Jake as main organizers. German swapper Speedhawk changed his handle to Elric and joined the newly formed Essence in december. 1993 - no releases, died? It does have some okay graphics from Hof, and a classic atmospheric strings-based tune by Reflex, but... does not really feel like a complete production. It seems like an unnecessary release, thrown together just to announce a shitload of boards and little else ;) Not sure about where the release date comes from, the disk had inaccurate file dates, and the demo itself does not mention any date (except the year) or event for its release. A memberlist published in Exciter's first ascii collection "No Good" (released sometime between june and september 94) is probably the closest we'll get to an initial memberlist, and counts a total of 33 members. 1994 - Shortly after forming, the group released their first demo, "Mr.Monkey" [06/94] at the danish South Sealand party, securing a third position in the demo competition, quickly followed by the German section's "Prurient" [07/94] in july. Exciter released his second ascii collection, "No Good 2" in september. Chromag was a doublemember of Polka Brothers by september. A couple of months then passed before the group's biggest success this year, "Switchback" [10/94] - winning the demo competition at the Doomsday Party in october! The swedish section debuted with the small demo "Wake Up" [11/94] at the NCC party in november. Eracore was not spotted as a member before october. Randall and Lynx were never spotted as members before november. Teevan was not spotted as a member before december. Their last production of the year was the demo "Whammer Slammer" [12/94], scoring a disappointing fifth position at The Party this year. Coders Zulu & Grey were also ranked third in the music competition at this party, but in fact just delivered a tune for their groupmate Chromag, who could not attend ;] 1995 - Exciter and Weezer left the scene, and announced the fact in a text file spread in early june.
